NOW HIRING FOR YMCA SUMMER CAMP

The Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA  is now hiring high-energy and enthusiastic people who love working with kids and in a team environment.

Ashley Cole, the Staunton-Augusta Family YMCA program director for achievement gap, is now taking applications for YMCA summer camp positions. Camp runs from June 3rd to July 26th. Camp Sites: Pre-School Camp @ the Y, McSwain Elementary Camp, Ware Elementary Camp, Bessie Weller Elementary Camp, Shelburne Middle School Camp, Weyers Cave Community Center Camp.

The positions are:

  • Site director. The site director oversees day-to-day operations of a camp site, including campers and staff. AM and PM part-time shifts available. Must be 21-years-old or older, and must have a bachelor’s degree in a child-related field or be working toward a degree in that field.  CPR and First Aid training is required, as well as MAT (medication administration training) and state licensing training.
  • Counselor.  The counselors are responsible for the well-being of a selected number of campers, including planning and implementation of activities during camp. AM and PM part-time shifts available. Must be 18-years-old or older and have six months of programmatic experience with children. CPR and First Aid training, as well as state licensing training is required.
  • Junior counselor. The junior counselors work with a counselor to oversee a group of campers and implement activities. AM and PM part-time shifts available. Must be 16-years-old or older and have reliable transportation.  CPR and First Aid training is required, as well as state licensing training.
