IRONWOOD POOL RULES

Hello Ironwood pool members!! While this year is sure to be very different than years past, we eagerly anticipate providing a space for our community and promoting wellness.

As we have mentioned throughout this process, we take the health and safety of our members extremely seriously. We are following the Virginia Department of Health’s Phase Three Aquatic Guidelines, as well as the Center for Disease Control’s Enhanced Cleaning Guidelines.

Here’s what that means for you:

Capacity:

  1. Per Phase 3 we are allowed to have 75% capacity in the pool area.
  2. Ironwood capacity will be limited to allow for proper social distancing.  If members are being turned away or proper distancing becomes harder to maintain, additional procedures will be created to promote order and fairness.
  3. No guests will be permitted at this time. We will EVALUATE USAGE and work on allowing 2 guest per membership as soon as possible and then regular guests visits after that.

Physical Distancing:

  1. Diving areas permitted with at least ten feet of spacing between persons.
  2. Seating on the pool deck and surrounding area requires at least 10 feet of spacing between persons who are not members of the same household.
  3. Persons in line for check-in, bathrooms, or any other reason must maintain at least six feet of distance between non-family members.
  4. Lifeguard stands will have a marked perimeter that guests should not enter unless there is an emergency.
  5. Proper social distancing is the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GUESTS to maintain.

Activity:

  1. The pool will be open for FREE SWIM, diving, and exercise.
  2. Exercise and FREE SWIM are allowed while maintaining proper social distancing.

 Cleaning:

  1. Members are asked to clean their own areas before and after use with provided cleaning items near the check-in station. There will be an area for clean items and for dirty items. While lifeguards will double-check, all members working together will promote more sanitary conditions.
  2. Guests and staff will be provided with instructions on proper hand sanitization stations at the entrance/exit.

Monitoring:

  1. Ironwood will screen patrons for COVID-19 symptoms prior to admission to the facility.  Anyone experiencing symptoms will not be permitted in the facility. Screenings will be conducted in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality laws and regulations.
  2. Sick guests who suspect or know they had COVID-19 while visiting Ironwood Pool must alert the Staunton-Augusta YMCA or The Club at Ironwood as soon as possible.
  3. If COVID-19 exposure is disclosed, Ironwood will enforce all enhanced cleaning and disinfecting practices.  They will also alert members via email if someone has been confirmed to have COVID-19 and visited Ironwood.  The day and time of possible exposure will be included.
  4. Any member who tested positive for COVID-19 may return to the facility when they have met all of the following sets of criteria: The member can return to the facility after these three conditions have been met: The member has had no fever for at least 72 hours (that is, 3 full days of no fever without the use medicine that reduces fevers) AND other symptoms have improved (for example, cough or shortness of breath have improved) AND at least 14 days have passed since their symptoms first appeared.

Additional Items:

  1. There will be no storage of chairs or personal items.  There also won’t be any communal toys/goggle available.
  2. The Swing set has been removed for safety reasons.
  3. The slide will not be open until approved by our Governor.
  4. All members will be required to sign a WAIVER upon first entry into the pool.

We’ve worked hard developing and implementing this plan, but ultimately, the success of this season requires all of us working together.  You have already shown you are a community that gets this.  You’re amazing!  We just ask that you take that same spirit, carefully read the plan, talk to your children about it, and do your best to comply.  It’s going to feel uncomfortable or unfair at times.  Have grace.  Have flexibility.  Have understanding.  If you’re concerned, have an issue, or need clarification at any point through the season, we welcome dialogue.

We are so very excited to see you and your family at the pool.   May this summer at Ironwood be a time of connection, health and healing. We are very pleased to be open.

Thank you for corporation and we look forward to seeing you.
