Reach & Rise Mentoring

New mentoring groups start this fall!

The Reach & Rise® Group Mentoring Program is seeking fall mentors and mentees! Mentoring can act as a stepping stone of support for our youth by providing them with a positive adult role model that can provide a healthy and consistent relationship. Our free mentoring groups focus on building communication skills, addressing bullying, and managing stress in positive ways.

MENTORS: We are offering training for NEW mentors on the following dates. You must meet the 15 hour requirement.

Training Dates: (15 hours total, one evening we will end early)

Mondays: 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, 8/27 10am-2pm

OR

Fridays: 8/10, 8/17, 8/24, 8/31 5pm-9pm

MENTEES:

We are seeking 24 youth ages 8-15 years of age to join in 16 week fall group mentoring program. Please fill out a youth referral form to apply.

WHY SHOULD I BE A GROUP MENTOR?

  • Help increase youth’s sense of belonging
  • Normalize youth’s developmental milestones and experiences
  • Have a DIRECT impact on your local community
  • Make a DIFFERENCE in the lives of others

DOES IT REALLY WORK?

  • Youth are FIVE times more likely to graduate if they have meaningful relationships with adults
  • Kids who have mentors are nearly 50% less likely to use drugs
  • Youth with mentors demonstrate improved self-esteem, decision makings skills, and relationships

REQUIREMENTS

  • Desire to work with youth ages 8-15 years in a group setting
  • 21+ years old
  • Weekly Check-Ins with Program Director
  • Willingness to collaborate with Co-Mentor to facilitate group

COMMITMENT

  • Mentor training (15+ hours)
  • Summer Group (2 hours a week for 8 weeks)
  • Fall and Spring Groups (2 hours a week for 16 weeks)

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Youth ages 8-15

WHAT IS GROUP MENTORING?

  • 2 mentors facilitate groups with 6 mentees
  • Mentors utilize group activities developed to help build healthy, supportive, safe and fun relationships with youth
  • Groups meet weekly for 2 hours each
  • Group mentoring session are held 3 times per year:

8 week (summer session) and 16 week (Fall & Spring Session)
